Social Gifting

“Social Gifting” is a unification of four social enterprise organisations, Mummy’s Yummys Homebaking, Downlights, Our Harvest and The Lucy Foundation. The inspiration for this concept was born in 2018 with our vision to improve the lives and confidence levels of young people with intellectual disabilities by offering workplace programmes.

The result was a symbiotic relationship with a heartfelt point of difference that you will join us in supporting as you buy a gift this festive season for family, friends, colleagues and clients.

After years of baking countless delectable slices and biscuits for her family, the churning idea of developing a quality home baking business using good old fashioned, real ingredients and wanting to share her yumminess from those favourites of her childhood, led to the launch of Mummy’s Yummys Homebaking in 2009.

Ann-Marie, her husband Darren and their team are now supplying a range of biscuits, slices, cakes and Christmas goodies to hundreds of clients and Corporates as well as café’s and notably, supply a range to Farro. At the beginning of 2019, Mummy’s Yummys permanently employed Jesse who was part of the 2019 MOXIE crew.

Downlights is a New Zealand owned and operated fragranced soy candle company that manufactures luxury candles using traditional artisanal techniques. Our candles are lovingly hand-poured and the entire manufacturing process supports the development of a variety of workplace skills for people with Down’s syndrome amongst other disabilities. Two limited edition Christmas fragranced candles (Noel & French Pear) in timeless crystal cut glass will add a touch of luxury to your festive table setting this year.

Downlights tagline: illuminate-care-change embodies the essence of the offer, hoping to ‘illuminate’ and light the way by creating jobs and showing ‘care’ as a community by offering opportunities to learn new skills. We hope that one day this will pave the way for ‘change’ that leads to greater acceptance for individuals with disabilities to be placed and valued in today’s growing workforce.

‘Our Harvest’ – growing goodness together, a social enterprise created by Recreate NZ. For the past 17 years, Recreate NZ has been committed to creating life-changing opportunities for youth with disabilities and offering support to their families.

‘Our Harvest’ was born through the MOXIE programme (Meaningful Opportunities X-ing into Employment) that allows youth with intellectual disabilities to gain horticulture skills through our orchard and gardening projects. The harvested produce is then made into delicious ‘Our Harvest’ jams, relishes and preserves.

All ‘Our Harvest’ products are spray-free, locally grown and made by our youth with love. ‘Our Harvest’, in collaboration with Downlights and Mummy’s Yummys has created further opportunities for young people with intellectual disabilities to grow in confidence, develop new skills and ultimately, grow goodness together.

The Lucy Foundation (TLF) is a Kiwi social enterprise supporting disabled people into training and employment in the global coffee industry. The Lucy Foundation together with their partners have created the world’s first chain of coffee that is totally inclusive of disabled people – from farmer (Mexico) to consumer (Aotearoa).

We invite you to partner with us and support this initiative by sending a heartfelt thank-you to friends, family and work colleagues this festive season with a premium quality gift box that truly embodies the classic saying: “the gift that keeps on giving”.
